The judges - in this category, the BSME committee - will be looking for editorial originality and proven
success.
WHAT CAN BE ENTERED
The entry can be for an innovation or a brand-building initiative featured in a British magazine/magazine website between 1 August 2010 and 31 July 2011
An innovation could be an exceptional feature, cover, series, scoop, or event. It could be brilliantly simple, but deemed a stroke of genius nonetheless
A brand-building initiative must be featured editorially and have engaged readers and potentialreaders beyond the editorial page. It can be on-going but must have pushed the magazine brand
to a wider audience during the year under consideration, heightening awareness of the magazine's
core values to readers and potential readers, it can be either a new idea, or an existing one that has been
taken to a new level. It can include award schemes, competitions and reader events
Covermounts and gift promotions not supported editorially within the magazine/magazine website are excluded
To submit an entry, you must have been editing the title for a minimum of six months - that is, since 31 January 2011
Only material produced under your editorship may be submitted
You may submit more than one entry for the category

Complete the form below
Write a supporting statement of no more than 500 words which- summarises your innovation or brand-building initiative
- explains why it is worthy of this award - how it fits with your readership, how it has heightened readers' awareness of your title, how it has engaged new readers, how it has increased market share (if that was your aim)
- shows how you have made best use of resources (staff, budget, promotions, marketing, advertising)
- illustrates whether you achieved what you set out to do with the campaign; include in this reader or partner testimonials*
Provide examples of the innovation or brand-building initiative example as featured in the magazine/magazine website during the relevant period* *Please limit the amount of supporting material and testimonials to a maximum 12 pages
You need to make 16 copies of the entry form, the innovation or brand-building initiative example and of your supporting statement - photocopies are acceptable. All entries must be printed on A4 paper and should not be bound. Please keep a copy for your records
Send these, with payment if applicable, to the BSME office. Please make sure that the entry from and the supporting statement are signed by the editor
If you were not a member of the BSME on 1 June 2011, a single payment of £150 inc VAT must accompany your entry. Please either enclose a cheque payable to the British Society of Magazine Editors or click here to pay online. A VAT receipt will be sent out in due course. However, if you are a BSME member or have paid to enter another category, then no entry fee applies

Entries will be accepted only between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday
Incomplete entries will not be processed
Entries received from non-members without payment will not be processed
Entries and supporting material will not be returned
