The award will be given to the editor whose magazine, in the judges' opinion, has made a significant
impact on its market and demonstrates editorial innovation and excellence.

WHO CAN ENTER

Editors of British magazines (including digital formats) whose titles have launched after 1 April 2010,
and who have been editing the title for at least four months since the launch date
Titles must be published at least three times a year, or twice for customer magazines, and you must have
edited a minimum of three issues (two for customer titles) in the period 1 April 2010 and 31 July 2011
If your title has relaunched but retained the same name you are not eligible to enter the Launch Category
and should enter in the relevant Editors of the Year or Website Editor of Year category

TO ENTER, YOU NEED TO

Complete the form below
Provide three copies each of three magazines, including the launch issue, from the period 1 April 2010 to 31
July 2011 that you think best show how words, pictures, type and layout present the objectives of your magazine
(if your title only comes out twice a year, please submit FIVE copies of each of the two issues). Digital publications
with a sister title in print should enclose eight copies of the latest issue
Write a supporting statement of no more than 500 words which
- explains why you thought there was a place for your title, what gap it fills and how your publication has achieved that
- tells us who your readership is, and what they particularly like about your title
- explains the editorial objectives for your magazine/magazine website
- demonstrates how you have made best use of resources (staff, budget, promotions, marketing, advertising)
You need to provide seven copies of the entry form, and your supporting statement - photocopies are acceptable. All entries must be printed on A4 paper and should not be bound. Please keep a copy for your records
Send these, with payment if applicable, to the BSME office. Please make sure that the entry from and the supporting statement are signed by the editor
If you were not a member of the BSME on 1 June 2011, a single payment of £150 inc VAT must accompany your entry. Please either enclose a cheque payable to the British Society of Magazine Editors or click here to pay online. A VAT receipt will be sent out in due course. However, if you are a BSME member or have paid to enter another category, then no entry fee applies

Incomplete entries will not be processed
Entries received from non-members without payment will not be processed
