The award will be given to an art director whose magazine, in the judges' opinion, has achieved and
maintained within its market sector consistently superior design.

WHO CAN BE ENTERED

Any art director of a British magazine published at least three times a year, or twice for customer titles,
available during the period 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011. You must be have been art director for at least
six months during this period. Online publications are not eligible to enter this category

TO ENTER YOU NEED TO

Complete the form below
Provide three copies each of three magazines available during the period 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011 that you
think best show how words, pictures, type and layout present the objectives of your magazine (if your title only comes
out twice a year, please submit FIVE copies of each of the two issues)
Write a supporting statement of no more than 500 words which
- shows how the design reflects the objectives of the editor
- explains your creative and strategic vision, and how this fits with your readership, and what that readership wants and expects of your title
- describes specific changes and innovations that you have made this year
You need to provide seven copies of the entry form, and of your supporting statement - photocopies are acceptable. All entries must be printed on A4 paper and should not be bound. Please keep a copy for your records
Send these, with payment if applicable, to the BSME office. Please make sure that the entry from and the supporting statement are signed by the editor and art director
If you were not a member of the BSME on 1 June 2011, a single payment of £150 inc VAT must accompany your entry. Please either enclose a cheque payable to the British Society of Magazine Editors or click here to pay online. A VAT receipt will be sent out in due course. However, if the editor is a BSME member or has paid to enter another category then no entry fee applies.
Mark your entry BSME Awards and add the name of your own magazine.

Incomplete entries will not be processed
Entries received from non-members without payment will not be processed
